Oracle 8i Backup with BE8.5
Hi all,
We have Win2K, Oracle 8.1.6 and BE8.5 installed on one server. The Oracle
agent is installed but I can't find it anywhere. It's not visible in SELECTION
folder of Backup Job Properties. Where can I find it? I stop all Oracle services
and backup the whole partition where Oracle and the program that uses database
are installed, but we'll have to run it 24/7 very soon and I need a HOT backup
option for Oracle. Any advice and help is very appreciated!

Re: Oracle 8i Backup with BE8.5
Have you run the Oracle Config wizard?
We used to have a turnkey Call Accounting system that used an Oracle database.
It's been quite a while since I installed the oracle Agent (would you beleive build
1223?)
but I do remember that after installing the Oracle Module, you get another Option
on the
BackupExec folder, and have to customize the Agent through that.

Re: Oracle 8i Backup with BE8.5
This my problem is. I don't have any additional icons after installing Oracle
agent.
Does it matter what Oracle version is installed?

Re: Oracle 8i Backup with BE8.5
Don't think you get an Oracle icon until you run the Oracle Config to tell the
Agent what instance and how to connect.
But againg, it's been a long time since I did it, and that particular system is no
longer in use, so I can't check it out anymore

Re: Oracle 8i Backup with BE8.5
OK,
I haven't run the setup program located in Veritas/Agents folder. Once you
run the setup, configuration window appears and you are finally able to configure
Oracle Agent!
Thanks again, now I need to figure out how to configure it properly!
