  1. Scheduled job failure

I have the luxury of performing full backups every night. I have a Compaq
DLT20/40 and a Quantum 40/80DLT. The compaq runs workstation backups for
some high end NT clients, and the Quantum performs our server backups. Now
here's my delima. About a month ago, my Friday backups stopped running.
No errors, no nothing. They just don't run. It is the same two jobs that
runs Mon-Fri at 9:30pm and 11:30pm respectively, and Mon-Thu work perfectly,
Fri's does not run at all. I've deleted the jobs and recreated them with
different names, changed the start time and they still fail.

Nothing else has changed on the servers. Norton AV runs nightly scans, the
AT schedular runs a nightly job, but other than that, nothing additional
is running on the servers on Fridays. So needless to say, I'm stumped.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

When I get wierd problems like this, I usually either stop and restart all
Veritas services. If that doesn't fix it, reboot your NT machine. This is
    what fixed my issues.

  3. Re: Scheduled job failure

I am having the same exact problem. My specs are BE8.5-3571 and NT4.0 w/
SP6a. Do your jobs show up in the job monitor? My jobs appear to not even
have tried to run. No indication of any error in the event log or the
history file. I reboot my server once a week on Sunday, after all backup
jobs have run. I have had almost perfect backups for three months, and then
this occurs. Nothing has changed on the server or the network. I'm
    stumped.

    Thanks for any help.

If the job is hanging at an alert, for what ever reason, and you re-boot the
server, all traces of the running job will disappear.
