  1. Error 1050: unknown device driver init error

    Hi,

    I changed the SCSI-HBA-Controller.

    I removed the old LSI-Controller (LSI_53C1030)
    and installed a new Adaptec-Controller (29320ALP)
because we received error messages while backing
up our Netware 6.5 SP5 (BE 9.1 1158.7) with our new
    streamer HP-Ultrium960e.

Now I receive the following error message, when I
    want to load Backup Exec:
"Error 1050: unknown device driver init error".

    I tried:
    - rename ..\bkupexec\mm => mm.old
    - rename ..\bkupexec\scsiview.scv => scsiview.scv.old
then restarted BE but the error raised again.

It seems that everything is ok.

Any ideas to solve my problem?

    Thanks

    Try this:

    http://support.veritas.com/docs/267574

And also remark NWTAPE.CDM from STARTUP.NCF.

Now I have remarked the nwtape.cdm but your
    hint in http://support.veritas.com/docs/267574
does not concern me - isn't it?.
The RAID driver is loaded before the SCSI driver.

I will reboot the server this night then I'll
    report next week.

    Thanks

    Chris,

sorry but the error raised again after the server reboot.

    startup.ncf:
SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF
    LOAD ACPIDRV.PSM
    LOAD CPQSHD.CDM
    LOAD IDECD.CDM
    LOAD CPQRAID.HAM SLOT=1
    LOAD IDEATA.HAM SLOT=10010
    LOAD ADPT160M.HAM SLOT=10004
    LOAD ADPT160M.HAM SLOT=10005
    LOAD ADPU320.HAM SLOT=4
    Load Keyb Germany

Do you have another idea? Reinstall BE?

    Thanks
    Bernhard

  5. SOLUTION found: Re: Error 1050: unknown device driver init error

    Hi Chris,

i have found the solution for the startup.ncf file:
    - remarked " # nwtape.cdm"
    - first loaded: "LOAD CPQRAID.HAM SLOT=1"
    - then loaded: "LOAD ADPU320.HAM SLOT=4 /LUN"

The switch "/LUN" was the final parameter for the solution.

    Thanks and best regards
    Bernhard
