  1. New tape drive not recognized

I am using a Tekram DC-390u2we scsi card and a Quantum dlt vs-160 and the
tape drive is not being detected by backupexec version 9.2 .1391. It does
show up when the list storage adapters command is run and when I do a scan
all it is also found but when I go to detect new devices it fails to show.

    Try the following steps:

    1. BESTOP
    2. Rename :\bkupexec\mm to mm.old
    3. BESTART

    Hope that helps.

No luck with that I have also tried using the nwaspi.cdm module instead of
the backup exc module and no luck with that either.

Please type LIST STORAGE ADAPTERS and then post back here with the
    results.

This is the results of the LIST STORAGE ADAPTERS command

0x00 [v371-a0] perc host adapter module [slot 10018]
    0x02 [v371-a0-d6:0] bnchmarkdlt1 5538
    0x01 [v371-a0d0:] perc ld 0 raid5 rev:251x
    0x09 [v025-a1] novell ata/ide host adapter module [slot 0]
    0x0a [v025-a1-d0:0] teac cd-224e f/w:k.9a
    0x0b [v6a3-a2] dc-3902we [slot 501]
    0x0c [v6a3-a2-d5:0] quantum dlt vs160 2500
    0x0d [v6a3-a3] dc-3902we [slot 502]

Again the quantum tape drive is the one I am trying to get to be discovered.
    Thanks

I suspect that the problem is with the Tekram controller that you are
using. I've not had any experience with these but I don't think that
they are supported with Backup Exec. I would suggest that you replace
this with an Adaptec controller which should work.

    Hi,

did you have any solution. I have the same problem with a quantum sdlt 320
    on a compaq ML350G3 and Adaptec 29160.
The second Compaq SDLT320 using the internal Apatec Controller is seen.
Using SBCON bot Tape Drives are seen
    Any Hint.

    Thanks

Can you please start a separate thread as this is probably a different
    issue.

    Thanks.
