A Few Quick Q's Re New Backup Job
hello,
thanks in advance for your patience if these Q's seem silly
.
all i want to do is basically modify the current backup job to not include
some directories and a certain file type... after searching these
discussions, i discovered that i can't simply modify the existing job - i
need to submit a new one.
i was going to submit the new backup job using the windows client... but
beforehand, i checked to see if the Options in the windows client matched
the Options in the Netware Client... as i immediately saw a descrepancy, i
didn't look at all the options, but under Options-->Backup, "Quick Check
After Backup" was checked in the Netware Client, but not in the windows
client.
1. why don't they match? should i be concerned?
2. since they don't match, i should use the Netware Client to configure and
submit the new backup job, right?
3. i want to somehow retain the existing job for possible use later- how can
i do that? maybe just place it on Hold in the Netware Job Manager? is
there a better way?
3a. if i simply place it on Hold, what happens when i restart the Netware
server? will the job previously placed on Hold remain on Hold, or will it
want to start up normally? (typically, BE starts automatically, and all i
have to do is log in through BE in to enable the backup job).
thanks!
relevant specs.:
Netware 5.00g (unsure what SP level...)
BackupExec 8.5 for Netware
BE Client running on Win2K SP4 workstation

Re: A Few Quick Q's Re New Backup Job
oh - i forgot to ask:
is there any way to create a backup selection set in the windows client, and
then use it in the Netware Client?
can i simply copy the .BKS file stored on the client workstation to the
Netware server, and if so, what directory do i put it in?
thanks again!

Re: A Few Quick Q's Re New Backup Job
ooh, my head hurts!
i just noticed something else: when i look at the current existing job
details in both the Win and Netware Clients, it does not appear that a Quick
Check is done ("Quick Check" is not checked in the dialog box in the Win
Client, and the message box in the Netware Client does not list that a Quick
Check will be done).
please understand that i am not particularly concerned about "Quick Check" -
i'm only using that as an example since i noticed the descrepancy described
in my original post...
i just want to make sure that the new backup job is EXACTLY the same as the
existing one, with the exception of the excludes that i will set up.
thanks again for your patience!
