Thread: unable to view files on a volume when creating a backup job

  1. unable to view files on a volume when creating a backup job

When I attempt to backup a file using BE8.5 on a novell server I am unable
to view the files on the volume. BE 8.5 will show me the first level of
files when I attempt to enter a directory it freezes giving me an out of
    memory error message.

Anyone know how I can completely uninstall BE 8.5 off my server. I believe
the problem lies with a file that is not overwritten but is used after a
reinstall thus preserving the error it is causeing. When I load BE on an
old server I had no problems with viewing subdirectories.

    Any thoughts ?

  2. Solution to : unable to view files on a volume when creating a backup job

Here is what I found. The problem seems to be a result of a few NLMs that
are of the wrong version. I did a clean install of BE on a new server with
the latest service pack to match that of my current server. Then I took
    the following NLMs from the new server and placed them on my current server;
QMAN, SBCON, SMDR, SME, TA500, TSANDS. Once this was done and I had rebooted
    the problem was resolved.

  3. Re: unable to view files on a volume when creating a backup job

I have a possible solution, well it at least solved my problem. From a clean
install of BE on a server runing the same level of service packs as my current
server, I copied the following NLMs to the problem server; QMAN, SBCON, SMDR,
SME, TA500, TSANDS. Rebooted the server and then everything worked.

    Hope this helps
