  1. Abends 8.5/NW5 CPU Hog Detected by Timer

    Running Netware 5.0 with the latest patches and current build of BE, I'm
    getting every week or two the following abend that requires a server
    restart as it hangs during the backup and it's non abortable.

    Server PEGASUS halted Saturday, June 16, 2001 8:37:30 am
    Abend 1 on P00: Server-5.00j-957: CPU Hog Detected by Timer

    Registers:
    CS = 0008 DS = 0010 ES = 0010 FS = 0010 GS = 0010 SS = 0010
    EAX = FCE0E60F EBX = B5351CA3 ECX = BCD91744 EDX = B529D52E
    ESI = 000B240D EDI = B52431A0 EBP = BD8010E8 ESP = BD8010D4
    EIP = 00000000 FLAGS = 00000006

    Running process: BE_Wrk00_bd5358e0 Process
    Created by: NetWare Application
    Thread Owned by NLM: BESRVR.NLM
    Stack pointer: BD800FE8
    OS Stack limit: BD7FAA40
    Scheduling priority: 67371008
    Wait state: 3030070 (Yielded CPU)

    Any suggestions? This is getting very annoying since it's occured on
    the full backup the last two times and that takes forever to run even on
    my AIT2.

  2. Re: Abends 8.5/NW5 CPU Hog Detected by Timer

    In fact my server has gone down 11 times this year and 10 of them were
    backup exec abends with cpu hog timers.

    My backup software is not supposed to be the least stable element of my
    environment.
