A cygwin browser won't be able to install viruses with the extreme ease that
internet explorer makes possible. It won't find the windows system files
exposed starting in c:\windows as cygwin creates a virtual directory structure
with the windows files over in /cygdrive/c/windows.

Of course using IE makes you an easier target, so that's not a fair
    comparison.

Is there even a gui cygwin browser though that leverages X? THere may
be, but I've not seen one. You could use mozilla on a separate nix
machine and display it on your desktop using X, but if you're going to
that trouble, may as well use a virtual machine anyway.

lynx of course is there for the text-mode novelty and is sometimes
useful, but hell, may as well use wget or curl and make the fun
    complete. :-)
