  1. Brainstorm Report + Shuttleworth/capitalism

Maybe everyone else has already taken some note of this, or maybe not. I
ran across the link to it in the Ub weekly newsletter #115.

"The Brainstorm project has published a report summarizing its activities
from its launch in February 2008 to the end of the Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10
    development cycle in October 2008."

Summary - Ubuntu Brainstorm is gathering quite a good sample of average
users who regularly post and vote, and the voting system succeed to
highlight some of the most wanted features. Unfortunately, the average
quality of the ideas is medium, making it sometimes difficult to actually
extract something constructive, but things are planned to tackle that
soon. The most popular ideas are mainly around GUI configuration tools,
artwork, easier developer tools, and on the overall, there is the feeling
developers comments on ideas are appreciated by users. Ubuntu Brainstorm
has triggered the launch of some open source projects, and its impact on
the Ubuntu development planning remains to be seen in the next cycle.

Naturally there's a lot more than the summary in the full report.

The other Ub-somewhatrelated item I found interesting was Mark
Shuttleworth on what is to become of capitalism.

http://www.markshuttleworth.com/ This is not the end of capitalism - Some
of the comments on my last post on the economic unwinding of 2008
suggested that people think we are witnessing the end of capitalism and
the beginning of a new socialist era.

It probably isn't the end of capitalism, but it bloody well should
    be!

The reason he wrote the Nov 4 'This is not the end of capitalism' article
was because of the previous Oct 9 article he wrote called 'It's a solvency
problem, not a liquidity problem' - and the responses he got.

However(And/But), the 2nd article is almost twice as long as the first.
