XP updates and ZoneAlarm killing internet access
No, not a troll, just slight amusement.
Eldest son is an XP user, who suffered sudden loss of all FTP, POP3,
and HTTP access due to the latest updates messing up ZoneAlarm. Just
pleasing that he had to use my UB connection to find the cure...
But an aweful lot of people use ZoneAlarm; a bit arrogant to issue an
update that was (presumably) not even tested on such a widely used
firewall...

Re: XP updates and ZoneAlarm killing internet access
It's not the fault of MS this time. Zone Alarm is the only firewall that had
these issues that I am aware of. Laziness on their part more than arrogance
on the part of MS.
And most people that I know use Comodo. Those that don't use Windows
Firewall. Not a single person that I know had this problem.

Zone Alarm has had a long history of declaring other applications
as a *Bad* *Application*. This time it singled out the update.
These incidents are the closest ZA comes to system testing and
has gotten better at fixing these problems than it ever was at
avoiding them.
