    Jun 21 11:55:56 pauls pppd[10577]: Connection terminated.
    Jun 21 11:55:56 pauls pppd[10577]: Exit.

with "pon ppp0", its exactly the same except it ends just with secondary
DNS address and no signal 15 is firedm the connection is then fine.

    any ideas?

    many thanks

    Paul

I am also using ADSL. This is my /etc/network/interfaces:

    toylet@server:/etc/network$ cat interfaces
    # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
    # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

    # The loopback network interface
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

    iface eth0 inet static
    mtu 1400
    mru 1400
    address 192.168.1.2
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    auto eth0

    # The primary network interface
    # auto eth1
    #iface eth1 inet dhcp

    auto dsl-provider
    iface dsl-provider inet ppp
    pre-up /sbin/ifconfig eth1 up # line maintained by pppoeconf
    provider dsl-provider
    iface eth1 inet manual
