    This should give you most of it.

    You can look through:
    /var/log/dpkg.log (dpkg.log.1 dpkg.log.2.gz dpkg.log.3.gz)

    And if you haven't done an apt-get clean, then here too:
    /var/cache/apt/archives

    For proper install/update logs, use wajig instead of Synaptic or
    apt-get. Wajig has a GUI, gjig. It a front-end for apt and logs
    everything. Simply (as long as you use it exclusively):
    wajig list-log|less

    It's pretty cool.

    Thanks. That helps, but I was hoping for a log that would give me the
    same information and package description that Update Manager gives when
    installing updates, along with the date and time installed.

    I would like to set Update Manager to automatic updates and be able to
    go back and see what was updated.
