localhost gone :-( - Ubuntu

This is a discussion on localhost gone :-( - Ubuntu ; Hi, My localhost ("lo", loopback) is gone. Only eth0 is still there, and working. See logging below.     Hi,

    My localhost ("lo", loopback) is gone. Only eth0 is still there, and
    working. See logging below.

    Any tips how to solve this, other then re-installing Ubuntu 7.10 x86_64?

    Check your /etc/network/interfaces file, make sure this is there:
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

    If there is no interfaces file, create one...
