Does anyone have some other ideas I can try to get my HP 2550 printing
in 7.10? It would be most appreciated from a newcomer to Linux and
Ubuntu.

I am still getting the "cupsdAuthorize: No authentication data
provided" error log message.

Perhaps I didn't handle custom PPD download properly. I clcked on the
link and a text file opened up. I save saved it to my desktop and
renamed it hp_2550N_custom.ppd

After removing the existing HP 2550 printer and restarting, I added a
new version and selected Provide PPD File. This is where I selected the
hp_2550N_custom.ppd file I created.

If I did correctly handle the custom PPD file download, do you have any
other suggestions for a fix to my issue.

I am new to Linux & Ubuntu. I have successfully created a dual boot set
up between Vista and Ubuntu on my HP Athalon Pavillion A6030N system.
All perhiperals are working under Ubuntu, including my USB Kensington
wireless mouse. However for some reason my HP 2550N color laserjet
printer is not functioning.

The printer is showing up as installed in the System-Printer area. The
PDF printer driver is working fine. When I perform a printer page test
the printer appears to be hung up with the green printing indicator
light just flashing on and off continuously.

I have not found an answer on the net, but did find out about the
system log for cups. The only thing that sticks out to me is the one of
lines that keeps repeating itself- cupsdAuthorize: No authentication
data provided.

Below is a portion of the cups log report. Hopefully someone can point
me in the right direction. Ubuntu appears to be a wonderful alternative
to Windows, so I am hoping I can get over this hump in order to start
really utlizing it.
