  1. dpkg: what amI doing wrong ?

    Hi,

    I installed Kubunty 7.10 on a second PC, in dual boot with Wxp.
    (XP install: full day *Kubuntu install 0.5h so far)

    I now want to install the same packages as on my other PC.

    - copied sources.list to the new PC to have the same repositories
    - dpkg --get-selections | grep -v install > installed.txt
    - copied installed.txt to home/marc of the new pc
    - version & dist upgrade with apt-get
    - sudo dpkg --set-selections < /home/marc/installed.txt
    * *and nothing happened
    * *What am I missing here ????
    * *I think it is a small detail that stops the show, but I don't know what

    install.txt looks like this:
    ....
    tuxkart * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * install
    tuxkart-data * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *install
    tvtime * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *install
    twinkle * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * install
    tzdata * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *install
    ubuntu-artwork * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *install
    ubuntu-keyring * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *install
    ubuntu-minimal * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *install
    ubuntu-restricted-extras * * * * * * * * * * * *install
    ubuntu-sounds * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * install
    ubuntu-standard * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * install
    ....

    Thanks for any replies

    Best rgds,

    Not from own experience, but web research (e.g.
    http://www.debiananwenderhandbuch.de...html#dpkggetss) indicates that
    the above should be followed by a

    sudo apt-get dselect-upgrade
