    Hello,

    I have an error, software updates reports: software index is broken,
    run: sudo apt-get install -f

    when i run it, it errors:
    :~$ sudo apt-get install -f
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree... Done
    Correcting dependencies... Done

    Any suggestions to fix this?

    ...meaning the install routine can't overwrite the /etc/cron.daily/find fiel,
    so let's get it out of the way.


    Try this:

    backup your current /etc/cron.daily/find file as follows (just in case!):

    $ sudo cp /etc/cron.daily/find /etc/cron.daily/find.backup

    remove the original file so it can't get in the way when you install
    slocate:

    $ sudo rm /etc/cron.daily/find

    then try again.


    If you get error messages on trying the remove, please post them back here -
    there may be some sort of problem with the file permissions.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I renamed the file (put an "_" in) and it
    went fine! And renamed it back. The error seems to have dissappeared.
