Thread: XP Sp2 issue?

  1. XP Sp2 issue?

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me.

I have an application which is client/server, the client connects to
an apache tomcat server. The clients IP address is 172.16.195.9 and
server is 172.16.195.10. Both machines have their firewalls turned
off. I can ping the client from the server and vice versa.

When i then start up the client side of application it starts fine and
connects ok, BUT when i think click a button which receives informatin
from the server (via SOAP messages) the application hangs. I thought
this might be to do with the limited amount of connections that XP SP2
introduced so i downloaded a tool which up'd the limit to 50 but that
did not work. The strange thing is if i remove SP2 the client has no
issue when receiving the SOAP messages from the server which points to
an issue which must be caused by SP2.
Stranger still is that i have now tried this in a completely different
network and the client can ALWAYS receive messages from the server
regardles of whethere SP2 is installed or not.
I should mention that the first network (which doesnt work with SP2
installed) is a VLAN but i as you can see from the IP address i
mentioned that are both on the same subnet and can communicate with
    each other.

Can anyone see anything i might be overlooking,

    Many thanks,

    Adam

Have you tried doing a packet capture to see what's being sent and
    received?
