  1. Help on enabling 3d support on ati radeon x700 card on toshibanotebook

    Hi all,

I have installed opensuse 10.3 and managed to get the graphical user
interface through help from suse site..

but still i am not able to get the 3d support from the ati proprietary
driver as downloaded fro the ati site which says that particular
driver supports 3d and is for legacy drivers i.e not HD ones...

also tried the one click install method through .ymp file..

but still no luck with 3d support..

if anyone could help me in achieving this i would be very greatfull..

    thanks very much.

Did you actually test that 3D is working? Because you can wait for that
"3D" checkbox in YaST/SaX all day long, it's always disabled even if 3D
    is enabled.

When i open yast/sax it says that 3d cant be enabled as ur graphics
    card/driver doesnt support it...

but the drivers i installed from the ati site clearly mentioned that
    it supports 3d..
    here is that file...
    ati-driver-installer-8.443.1-x86.x86_64.run

and Fred, after searching for fglrx, the said packages are already
    installed...

and i know for sure that x700 drivers for suse 10.2 were just fine and
the 3d option was enabled by default for suse 10.2

    any more inputs?

Thanks for taking out time and helping.

I have managed to reach up to a point where i get this::
    fglrxinfo
    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700
    OpenGL version string: 2.1.7170 Release

I installed the latest ati drivers :ati-driver-installer-8.443.1-
    x86.x86_64.run
    using this guide:http://linux.wordpress.com/2006/05/12/suse-101-ati-
    drivers-installation/

But still the option for enabling the 3d acceleration is
    disabled....see this

    http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/9...apshot1pr2.jpg
    http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/376/snapshot2fs7.jpg

the xorg.conf file in /etc/X11 reads this; please help me to enable
    the 3d support.

    Thanks VeryMuch.
