Thread: Icon close button

  1. Icon close button

I want to know how to set the icons on the tabs so I can close the tab,
and not have to right click for the menu to close. I am running Suse
Linux 10.1 on my desktop (Athalon single core 64 bit), with
SUSE/2.0.0.5-1.2 Firefox/2.0.0.5 as the browser. For some reason the
icons to close the tabs disappeared about two months ago. I am also
running Open SUSE linux 10.2 on my laptop (Intel Centrino) with
SISE/2.0.04-1.1Firefox/2.0.0.4. It shows the close icons on the tabs.

I compared the preferences line by line and they are the same. Also, when
    I used about:config, the setting for browser.tabs.closeButtons was 1,
which means that the button should appear like I want. I did try changing
it to 4 (close button at the end of the line) but I still didn't see a
close button. Also, it doesn't seem to work when I set the value to 0
(close button in active tab only).

So my question is how can I show the icons so I get a one-click close on
tabs I no longer want open?

    thanx for any help

I hardly use the icons, I always use Ctrl-W (or Ctrl-F4) to close the
    tab. Much faster :-)

btw, I don't know how to restore the icons
