Increased Performance & Optimal System Utilization

Sun previewed the Solaris[TM] 10 Operating System (Solaris OS), the
upcoming version of its OS to be available later this year for systems
based on x86 UltraSPARC[R] microprocessors. Early access versions will
be available for download this summer. Solaris 10 OS will have over 600
new features.

Solaris 10 OS will offer:

- Improved Linux compatibility

- Increased performance on Intel, Opteron and UltraSPARC[R] processor
based systems

- Optimal system utilization via N1[TM] Grid Containers and zones
which allow the administrator to divide a given system into more
than 4000 software partitions per single instance of the operating
system.

- Improved ability of the system to diagnose and automatically repair
problems: Predictive Self Healing technologies enable fault
isolation and reduce system outages. A new suite of Dynamic Tracing
capabilities will provide a powerful tool for analyzing and
diagnosing elusive problems in real-time.

- Process Rights Management technology that constrains and grants
processes/applications, allowing them access only to the system
resources that they need to get the job done. It also prevents a
hacked application from gaining extra abilities or corrupting the
entire system.
