Vol 71 Issue 2 2004-01-12 Article 11976 from section "Java Technology"

The Migration Tool for Java[TM] 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition
(J2EE[TM]) 1.4 Application Server is used to migrate J2EE platform-based
applications that were developed on other J2EE application servers to
the J2EE 1.4 Application Server, Developer Release.

The tool successfully achieves migration through several means:
- Migration of the deployment descriptors

- Runtime support for selected custom JavaServer Pages[TM] (JSP[TM])
tags and proprietary APIs

- Conversion of selected configuration parameters with equivalent
functionality in the J2EE 1.4 Application Server

- Automatic generation of Ant-based scripts for building and
deploying the migrated application to the target application server

The tool supports the migration of applications to the J2EE 1.4
Application Server from the following source application servers:
- J2EE[TM] Reference Implementation 1.4 Beta1
- J2EE[TM] Reference Implementation 1.3
- Sun[TM] ONE Application Server 6.0 and 6.5 (re-branded as Sun
Java[TM] System Application Server)
- Sun[TM] ONE Web Server 6.0 (re-branded as Sun Java[TM] System Web Server)
- JBoss 3.0
- WebLogic Server 5.1, 6.0, and 6.1
