Vol 71 Issue 1 2004-01-05 Article 11926 from section "Publications"

By Mark Wutka, Alan Moffet, Kunal Mittal

A new book by Mark Wutka and Alan Moffet aims to quickly teach readers
how to use JavaServer Pages[TM] (JSP[TM]) 2.0 technology with Apache
Tomcat. The 552-page text breaks down lessons into hourly learning
increments, with an introduction provided that covers the basics.

"Sams Teach Yourself JavaServer Pages 2.0 with Apache Tomcat in 24
Hours, Complete Starter Kit," begins with the basics of JSP technology
and servlets. Information is provided on creating HTML forms and how the
browser interacts with the server. Later, JSP technology and servlet
lifecycles are examined, as well as core servlet components and servlet
filters. Later sections look at areas such as internationalization,
security and performance.

Author Wutka has developed Java[TM] technology utilities for working XML
that have been featured on distinguished Web sites, and has taught
classes, given lectures and written or contributed to several Java
technology books. Moffet is a consultant specializing in the application
of emerging technologies and improving organization development
capacity. He is also a member of the Java Community Process[SM]
