I have an option to buy a HDS 9900, model 9960. No HD but has 2 FC cards and

Hi Jay,
I don't know what the market value of the 9960 is... but I think it's
not likely to be very high. This is very specialist kit and you
really need to know what you're doing to get this working without HDS
support - and that support is very expensive, which is probably the
reason that this box is being offered for sale now.
Without any HD's this box is merely scrap metal, IMO. The parts won't
be useable anywhere else.

That pretty much sums it up. The 9960 is mainly being purchased now
by shops that can't change anything due to customer contracts or the
like. Government regulations come to mind as well.
We traded in our 9960 for the 9980V. HDS said it was worth a bit to
them because of this exact reason, they had people clammoring for more
9960 disk because they were out of capacity but couldn't change their
config.
Personally I would say it's not worth the time or energy to make this
work.
