    Hello everybody

    I have a problem with HP SMART Array cards (P600 and the like) and a
    recent Solaris 10 patch .

    Installing the latest patch cluster on a new Solaris 10u5 makes the
    machine unusable, it quickly generate a kernel panic if you load discs
    and dump the following stack :

    Of course the cpqarray driver is the last one.

    I have also the problem with a ufs file system or fully patch Solaris
    10u4. They were working perfectly before the patches.

    The problem can be easily reproduced with the following filebench
    "program" :

    DEFAULTS {
    runtime = 5000;
    dir = /data/tmp;
    stats = /tmp/stats;
    filesystem = zfs;
    description = "randomread zfs";
    }

    CONFIG kernelcrash {
    function = generic;
    personality = oltp;
    filesize = 8g;
    iosize = 4k;
    nthreads = 64;
    directio=1;
    }

    If you find any info on this crash, I would like to know. I have the
    same problem.
    Have not figured out
    what patch does it in.

    Posted on the HP forums and Solaris forums to no avail.

    Thanks

    After some experimentations, I found the followings facts :
    -the problem is worst on a P600 than on a P400 ;
    -setting maxpgio seems to make it worst too ;
