Yes: "no such device or interface". This is the onboard-Nic in GA-P35DS3R.

What's the output prtconf -pv?
John

The /dev/rge0... is not present. How can I build this special device? I
think this was an error during the installation. I have disabled the
internet access, ssh and another.

I have successfully installed the package but /dev/rge0.. is not present.

Which Solaris release are you using? It's odd that the package wasn't
installed.
If 10 or later (if not, why not?), try running sys-unconfig to wipe your
system's config and see if you can set up the networking once it reboots.

I have 08/07 on Intel 64bit.

have you tried the drivers from Realtek?

scroll down and look under Unix

Define no success.
Were you asked to configure networking, or was that section skipped?
If that section was skipped the device PCI-id may not be recognised by
the driver.
As JG asked (twice), post the output of prtconf -pv

Sun's rge(7D) might work with this device.
# update_drv -a -i '"pciex10ec,8168"' rge
# devfsadm
# ifconfig rge0 plumb
If not, you'll have to try another driver.

install an intel nic and never worry about this again.
During the boot I receive "Unexpected token 8168 in /etc/driver_aliases" and
"Missing alias for pciex10ec in /etc/driver_aliases".
Wolfgang
I have fixed the line in /etc/driver_aliases, but no success.

a question: In the package SUNWrge are two drivers, one for intel and one
for AMD. Is the intel driver only for Itanium and all other Intel cpu need
the AMD driver?
Wolfgang
I will make a test with the other driver.

Not sure that makes any sense. The kernel decides which
of them to load -- only one of them will ever be loadable
depending how the kernel is running.
