    In /etc/X11/xorg.conf

In section "Screen " insert variable DefaultDepth 24
and then edit SubSection "Display" for depth24
    with the resolutions you want.
    a depth of 24 ( 32 million colurs )
requier a lot of RAM on the graphics controller for high
    resolutions. 128 MB

    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Card0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 24
    ..
    ..
    ..
    SubSection "Display"
    Viewport 0 0
    Depth 24
    Modes "1920x1200" "1600x1200" "1280x1024"
    EndSubSection
