  1. Parallel port driver not loaded on ASUS CUSL2 motherboard (sxcr b33)

I have a ASUS CUSL2 motherboard an for some unknown reason no driver
(I'm running Solaris Express b33) for the parallel port is loaded.
During installation the /dev/lp1 symbolic link is created, but
lp@1,378:ecpp0 is not present (see below).

    # prtconf -D

    # prtconf -v
    lp (driver not attached)

Loading the eccp driver manually and running update_drv also does not
    seem to help.

    # modload /kernel/drv/ecpp
    # modinfo | grep ecpp
    167 f9cd9ed8 9120 162 1 ecpp (parallel port driver 2.76)
    # update_drv ecpp
devfsadm: driver failed to attach: ecpp
Warning: Driver (ecpp) successfully added to system but failed to attach

What is going wrong for this system?

    Yep, for some reason the

    ecpp "lp"

    binding is missing /etc/driver_aliases. A fresh snv_b34 x86
    installation shows the same problem.

    Workaround is:

    update_drv -a -i '"lp"' ecpp
