x2100 nge0: Hardware fata error. Hardware will be reset
Does anyone know if this means a card failed?

Hardware fata error. Hardware will be reset
Feb 9 15:35:56 clyde nge: [ID 801725 kern.warning] WARNING: nge0:
Reset rx's channel fails. Need to power off/poweron system
I really don't find the suggestion to reboot 'helpful'.. the machine
is brand new and was only up for 2 hours.
Also, why is the second card bge0?
Thanks,
Andrey

NGE is internal to the NVidia Nforce 4 Chipset/hypertransport
controller.
Its sufficiently uniq so that any other NIC you put on the
motherboard
would need a different driver.

Not sure, but once things get into this state you may have no choice
but to power cycle..
I saw this message with an Ultra 20. The fix was a bit surprising -
the switch port wasnt auto-negotiating...! Check that out. Maybe with
netstat -s
Once my switch port was sorted out I never saw that message again.
Throughput improved a lot too : >

A friend with a nvidia gig e port says to avoid it like the plague.
The behaviour you are seeing is normal even under windows,
in windows recovery is automatic but all connections are dropped.
Use the bge0 port and be happy.
