ping - Solaris
This is a discussion on ping - Solaris ; I use 192.168.0.1 on solaris(82546),192.168.0.2 on winxp(5701).
They connect with cat6 cable.
In solaris,ping 192.168.0.2.
I got "no answer from 192.168.0.2".Why?
Netmask is correct,255.255.255.0....

Two likely causes.
1) You need a crossover cable, not a straight cat-5 cable if you link
two machines together with a cable between them, without any router,
switch or similar.
2) Does the win-xp firewall allow pings though? Not sure myself, but any
decent firewall can be configured to block pings.

It is always of the form: month-year@domain. Hitting reply will work
