Hi I tried a lot of forums and post without finding the solution to my pb before.

I have a client running on Debian.
Snmpwalk i running perfectly on localhost. But when I try to access it's MIB from my gentoo server, it returns: TimeOut: no response from ....

Here is my client /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file

#####

com2sec local 127.0.0.1 public
com2sec local 87.98.221.70 public

group MyROGroup v1 local
group MyROGroup v2c local
group MyROGroup usm local

view all included .1 80

access MyROGroup "" any noauth exact all none none

####

It's quite simple and i thought it should be working.
I disabled the iptables for the tests to be sure that the 161 port is open.

Here is also my /etc/default/snmpd client file:

################################################
# This file controls the activity of snmpd and snmptrapd

# MIB directories. /usr/share/snmp/mibs is the default, but
# including it here avoids some strange problems.
export MIBDIRS=/usr/share/snmp/mibs

# snmpd control (yes means start daemon).
SNMPDRUN=yes

# snmpd options (use syslog, close stdin/out/err).
SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid '

# snmptrapd control (yes means start daemon). As of net-snmp version
# 5.0, master agentx support must be enabled in snmpd before snmptrapd
# can be run. See snmpd.conf(5) for how to do this.
TRAPDRUN=no

# snmptrapd options (use syslog).
TRAPDOPTS='-Lsd -p /var/run/snmptrapd.pid'

# create symlink on Debian legacy location to official RFC path
SNMPDCOMPAT=yes

I really have no idea why my server can't request the client. As they both can access their localhost mib.
Maybe someone could help me?
