Is "--enable-new-features --without-rpm" supposed to be supported (in SVN trunk)?
I've tried this combination (by accident, admittedly) and compilation fails when linking snmpd:

    ../.libs/libnetsnmpmibs.so: undefined reference to `rpmdbClose'
    ../.libs/libnetsnmpmibs.so: undefined reference to `rpmdbOpen'
    ../.libs/libnetsnmpmibs.so: undefined reference to `rpmdbInitIterator'
    ../.libs/libnetsnmpmibs.so: undefined reference to `rpmdbNextIterator'
    ../.libs/libnetsnmpmibs.so: undefined reference to `rpmdbFreeIterator'

    Not yet.
I've been discussing the handling of RPM-based swInstTable
with Jeff Johnson, and that's the next thing to add.

What would be more useful at the moment would be to try
    '--enable-new-features' on a variety of O/S's. I've tested
this code on Linux and *BSD (but only a single version of
each). The code for Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, etc is basically
lifted from the old code, tweaked based on on-line documentation.
But that's not the same as compiling it for real! :-)

Guess what? I've started to do exactly that, for a variety of Linux distros, initially. The "--without-rpm" handling was the only issue I've found (and reported) so far. As for other OSes: stay tuned. :-)

    I'd say it should work.
All combinations of standard modules and flags should work together and
generate either an agent or a configure error.

It should work, and it *will* work. I just need to tweak the necessary code.
Cut me some slack here, will you? :-)

Sure. I'm all out slacking right now and you deserve some as well :-)
