Could you enlighten me on a way to determine whether the binaries are
32/64 bit? I've read some READMEs on my machine that leads me to believe
that it's 64 bit, but I'm not sure. Do you know a way to determine this
from the command line as well? I'd love to learn how ... I've googled
around and haven't come across any useful info. on how to do this.

It's hard to judge on your problems without seeing a full make log, but
/vobs/pp2dev/obj_DEBUG/sparc_solaris_32_5_9/cmds/em really looks like a
suspicious name for a 64-bit build!

Have you double-checked that all libraries to be linked (net-snmp,
OpenSSL, ...) are 64-bit binaries?
