Hi Dave,

/root/net-snmp/bin/snmptrap -e -u MyUser -A MyPassword -a
MD5 -x DES -X NewPassword -l authpriv running>:162 ''

This is the command being used.

Snmptrapd.conf is as follows:

#
# net-snmp (or ucd-snmp) persistent data file.
#
################################################## ######################
####
# STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP
#
# **** DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE ****
#
# STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP
################################################## ######################
####
#
# DO NOT STORE CONFIGURATION ENTRIES HERE.
# Please save normal configuration tokens for snmptrapd in
SNMPCONFPATH/snmptrapd.conf.
# Only "createUser" tokens should be placed here by snmptrapd
administrators.
# (Did I mention: do not edit this file?)
#

engineBoots 3
oldEngineID 0x80001f880187fefd5b

################################################## ######################
####

I also tried to add the user using createUser as mentioned as a comment
in the file.

When we add a v 3 user using createUser and restart the snmptrapd the
line automatically gets deleted.
Is there any issue here?

Net-snmp version being used is 5.3.1.

Regards,
Som

What is the exact command that you are using?

If you're sending traps via the command line, and receiving them via
snmptrapd, then 'snmpd.conf' is not relevant.

What are the contents of your snmptrapd.conf file?

Which verison of the code are you using?

Dave
