Hello,

I'm new to Samba and a little confused right now. I am using user
security and have defined 3 shares:

[export]
comment = Shared General
path = /usr/export
browseable = yes
read only = no
writable = yes
[tmp]
comment = temporary files
path = /tmp
read only = no
writable = yes
[backup]
comment = backup files here
path = /backup
read only = no
writable = yes

I ran chmod 777 on both /usr/export and /backup and /tmp was already
set to drwxrwxrwt. Now I can read and write to /tmp from a Windows
box, but I can only read from the export and backup shares. Is this
because /tmp is marked 'drwxrwxrwt' instead of 'drwxrwxrwx'? If so, do
I have to do the same to the other shares (and how so)? If not, what
is the difference between them? TIA!

Bob
