Hi all,

Tell me, does Samba perform just as badly on a high latency WAN as
regular Windows SMB does? I assume it does because it is just a
reimplementation of the same chatty protocol, or does it maybe have some
extra "embrace and extend" functions that make it perform better in this
case?

If Samba/SMB has no chance of working well on a WAN, can someone suggest
a networked FS that might be good on a WAN (I'm talking NY-London-Tokyo
here).

Ben.
