Hello All,
Herewith is the problem description :

Configuration :
Server : Samba 3.0.7 / Mandrake 10.1
Client : Win XP

Current concern : I am trying to copy a directory (and the
sub-directories)
using 2 explorer windows on the XP machine. The name of the the
directory is /home/adventure (just in case more than 8 characters is a
problem, but then I tried renaming it to /home/adventur, still no
luck).

I get the following message on the XP side :
"Cannot create or replace Adventure : Access is denied
Make sure that disk is not full or write-protected and the file is
not currently in use".

To verify that there is no problem with this specific directory, i
tried copying to a users home directory, and after copying one folder I
get the following message :
"Cannot copy Avseq02: There is not enough free disk space
Delete one or more files to free disk space, and then try again".

In the second instance it does appear to run into a free disk space
issue, since some of the sub-directories are copied before I get the
above message.

the df command returns the following :
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 5.8G 5.5G 31M 100% /

There does not appear to be any messages in the logs which I can relate
100%, but the following was observed a few times...
