Thread: Samba over subnets- how?

  1. Samba over subnets- how?

Hi I am trying to set up samba on a Solaris box but the NT4 PDC is on
    a different subnet.

I have set it up from a workstation on the same subnet and it works
fine but I have a home directory server which I can't move.

Ip's are PDC 146.5.254.51, Samba server is on 211.2.23.21.

Anyone know how this can be achieved - running Samba V2.2.

    TIA

    cheers,
    Len

Did you read this: (adjust path to suit your installation)
    file:/usr/share/swat/help/NetworkBrowsing.html#id2902187 ?

    /dev/rob0 - preferred_email=i$((28*28+28))@softhome.net
or put "not-spam" or "/dev/rob0" in Subject header to reply

Thought I'd covered all the SWAT html pages!

I'll take a look tomorrow, setup is at work!

I'm servicing two IP subdomains using two NIC's in the server. seems
to work .. I'm pretty sure that it should also work with netwok
aliasing ie giving two IP's to the same eth card ..
but the server is PDC for the 2 subdom's

is that covering yr Q ?

Any chance you could mail that to me? I don't have that page in the
SWAT directory? I'm running 2.2, is this a V3 thing?

My problem is that the PDC/BDC is on a different subnet and SAMBA just
won't connect. I think my only solution is to move the PDC/BDC onto
the same segment as the server.
