I'm having problems similar to the guy below. Samba 2.2 on RH linux
7.3 box. Windows NT, 2K, XP clients connecting and mounting user
homes. Occasinally, the mount will fail, either after it's been logged
on for a while, or right away. Any ideas? I get the same errors in the
logs.

What about an upgrade to 3.0? I guess we should do that anyway, right,
for performance issues...

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Previous Post:

I have been having authentication issues with my samba 2.2\freebsd 4
box
for quite some time now. It was working great for a awhile, then all
of a
sudden it started to deny all of the users and passwords. I checked
the
smbpasswd file and my smb.conf and everything seems to be in order.
But,
still no allowed access. I then set debug level=2 and checked my
logs. It
says that it is "defaulting to lanman password for user kris". What
does
this mean and how can I fix it? I know that I am using the right
password.

Thanks,
Kris
