Samba on our RH Linux 7.2 works fine as a file server, but stopped
working as a print server last week, and I just can't find the
problem.

I can print directly to the print queue with this:

echo ^Mhellooooo^L | lpr -P lp_text

and it work perfectly.

When I try this:

echo "^Mhello again^L" | smbclient "//linux/lp_text"
-Upublic%public -c "put - f"

I get back this:

added interface ip=192.168.1.2 bcast=192.168.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
added interface ip=192.168.1.3 bcast=192.168.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 2.2.1a]
ERRDOS - ERRbadfile (File not found.) opening remote file \f

Is this some kind of permissions thing? Anyone have a clue?

Thanks.

John
