I tried Cinelerra and failed a few times, but I did manage to get Kino to
build (and function OK).

Sorry. I didn't even check. I just remember that slacky.eu is supposed
to be a resource for build scripts as well as packages. Perhaps the build
script used for the package is available there, too.
