This is a discussion on vfc on O2 - SGI ; Ive been trying to use my O2 (R5K-180) with a SUN GDM 1962 monitor.

vfc on O2
Ive been trying to use my O2 (R5K-180) with a SUN GDM 1962 monitor.
This should be able to handle 1152x900_76 or 1280x1024_76.
These aren't of course standard resolutions for the O2 and so ive been
trying to use vfc to make them.
Problem is that I don't have mipsPRO compillers and so whenever I try to run
the makefile, it just complains. Can I use gmake to do this? If so, how
would I do it.
Thanks for any help

I can't help you with vfc, but a 1280x1024@76 setting can be set with
setmon just fine.

well, I *thought* it had 1280x1024@76, but it hasn't, only 75 Hz. Sorry.
Cheers

Will this work? I'm not too familiar with the o2 in particular, but I
know the gdm-1962 quite well, and as I recall, it won't take anything but
composite sync. Doesn't the o2 output only sync-on-green or separate?

Re: vfc on O2
The O2 puts out sync on most things, since it can work with SGI monitors and
also normal PC monitors straight away. So I guess this is composite sync.

Yes and no.
Composite sync *on green*, and split H- and V-sync on separate pins.
