I'm trying to get an Octane2 hooked up to an LCD panel at
1600x1200@60Hz, and it just ain't working.

    The 1600x1200_60.vfo is present.

setmon -v reports half-a-dozen display resolutions that this page:

    http://www.sgi.com/products/workstat...solutions.html

....says are only available with V10/V12 and Irix 6.5.10 or better. The
    machine is running 6.5.16m.

It looks like all the right hardware and software is in place.

So why doesn't 1600x1200_60 show up (or work, with 'setmon -x
    1600x1200_60' and a restart)?

What about the cable? Does the monitor display some error message
that the signal is outside the scan range?

FWIW, I bought a cable from Reputable to connect an Octane1-MXE
to a 1600x1200 LCD, worked straight away. You could try to go to 1280x1024_60
on your old monitor and then connect the LCD to see if it gets the signal at
    all.

    Good luck, Hans
