  1. problem with patch 5509

I pulled down Patch 5509 this morning and installed it on IP30 Octane
running Irix 6.5.22m. The kernel rebuild failed on reboot. I'll append
the error from autoconfig -v output below. Anyone know what the
    problem might be? Thanks.

    ld: ERROR 33 : Undefined text symbol "network_drop" -- 1st referenced
    by if_eg.o.
Use linker option -v to see when and which objects, archives
    and dsos are loaded.
ld: INFO 152: Output file removed because of error.
    lboot: ld returned 512--failed

I have the same problem. In SYSLOG there is:

    Apr 30 11:46:25 4B:montigo syslog: /usr/etc/nfsd: falling back to
pre-6.5.22 mode with fixed number of NFS service threads.

This has nothing to do with 5509 - man nfsd and read DYNAMIC NFS
    DAEMONS section

    max

The man page refers to /etc/config/nfsd.options, which does not exist
on my system or another recently updated to 6.5.22. This message
occured after booting with the 5509 patch and did not occur after I
    removed the patch.

Precisely. If it does not exist, then there are no flags passed
    to nfsd.

It's a text file, so to make it requires the use of your favourite
    editor.

If I have seen further, it is by standing on reference manuals.

You must also load patch 5469 with patch 5509.

Patch 5509 uses network_drop to drop packets when there's a DoS attack
going on. That function resides in the stack and is provided by 5469.

    Thanks. That did the trick.
