I have a compilation problem for perl in the file
gv.c. This problem has been reported in a number
of venues, notably perl.perl5.porters with no resolution
listed. Is this related to the fact that sgi freeware
includes a rather dated version of perl?

Also, this same problem was reported about a year ago in
the same newsgroup with perl version 5.8.0
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...com%26rnum%3D1

My error messages are essentially the same during compilation:

`sh cflags "optimize='-O3 -OPT:Olimit=0:space=ON'" gv.o` gv.c
