I tried installing Ubuntu 8.04 on my Vostro laptop. It went a
lot better than 6.10! I guess it has the drivers now.

However, /usr/include now only contains

$ ls -l /usr/include
total 36
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-04-22 17:54 compiz
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-04-22 17:54 cups
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2008-04-22 17:54 dbus-1.0
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2008-04-22 17:54 evince-2.20
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-02-20 15:55 gpilotd
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-02-20 15:55 libgpilotdCM
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2008-04-22 17:53 python2.4
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2008-04-22 17:53 python2.5
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2008-04-22 17:52 X11

which means nothing compiles. None of the
/usr/include/stdio.h
/usr/include/sys/*
etc

that one would expect. What do I need to install,
and how?
