Older hardware and newer 2.4 kernels
I have here a Dell Latitude Laptop, the model XP475.
He can successfully run an installation of the 2.2.16 and 2.2.18
kernels for Slackware 7.1 and the unreleased 7.2 versions.
Does the group have any suggestions for producing a generic kernel for
the I486DX that is from the 2.4 series that will boot properly on this
hardware? Obviously I could build it using the hardware emulators
currently available, such as Bochs or even QEMU but I would prefer
other solutions before I cross over to those ideas.
