    This works:
    $ nautilus

    This errors:
    $ su
    # nautilus
    (nautilus:5462): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session
    manager:
    Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols
    specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.

    Any ideas why, and how to fix it?

    Sure, just a precaution you shouldn't run some browser as root.

    Honestly, try at least 'su -' to see how clever your distro set
    things up. This is a security measurement to prevent other users
    starting whatever on your $DISPLAY.
