Where did the upper right hand menu go?
In my enthusiasm to delve into Linux I inadvertently hide the upper right
hand menu on myself. I clicked there a couple of times while there was a lot
of disc activity. I saw flashes of a little box appearing to the left on the
desktop and now my menu is invisible...not there. How do I get it back?

So far, you haven't told us ANYTHING we'd need to know in order to help you.
What "right hand menu"?
What distro?
What window manager?
What desktop?
As no-one here has ever seen your computer how can we know anything about
how it's setup?

As another poster has commented, we'll need more information.
[1] KDE or Gnome?
[2] Which distro?
[3] Are you running an application whose menus have vanished,
or are you referring to the main desktop?
at least. (In #3, I can at least guess you're referring to the main
desktop.)

I use Gentoo, young whippersnapper! ;-)
To be sure, the distro might make a difference in the
configuration. I for one can't say.

Linux. Because it's there and it works.
Windows. It's there, but does it work?

Could've been SuSE or Mandriva, y'know.
