  1. Microsoft update Please help

    Dear all Linux Fans,

I have an FC5 Squid Proxy Server in the office. My only problem is that
I cannot make an update of our Windows XP Client to
    [http://update.microsoft/microsoftupd...aspx?ln=en-us] from
    its auto-update.

When a take a look from the access.log here shows:

    1160533736.340 0 192.168.100.204 TCP_DENIED/400 320 HEAD
    /v6/microsoftupdate/redir/muredir.cab?0610101028 - NONE/- text/html
    1160533736.350 0 192.168.100.204 TCP_DENIED/400 1534 GET
    /v6/microsoftupdate/redir/muredir.cab?0610101028 - NONE/- text/html
    1160533736.388 0 192.168.100.204 TCP_DENIED/400 320 HEAD
    /v6/microsoftupdate/redir/muredir.cab?0610101028 - NONE/- text/html
    1160533736.408 664 192.168.100.200 TCP_MISS/200 898 POST
    http://shttp.msg.yahoo.com/notify/ - DIRECT/216.155.194.239 text/plain
    1160533736.417 0 192.168.100.204 TCP_DENIED/400 1534 GET
    /v6/microsoftupdate/redir/muredir.cab?0610101028 - NONE/- text/html

I have tried some configuration over the internet, like for example:
    acl WINDOWS dstdomain http://microsoftupdate.microsoft.com
    http_access allow WINDOWS
    always_direct allow WINDOWS

Please if there's anyone could help teach how to figure this out,
    thanks.

    -----------------------------------Reply to above:

It would appear that your proxy isn't allowing a redirect from your
intranet. Go through your proxy config files with a fine-toothed comb,
that would be a good place to start. If you need help with this, there
is a lot of documentation available on the web, and too deep for me to
explain here. First of all, is your proxy set up with iptables,
ipchains, or ipfwadm? You might want to look at the following links to
    help you resolve your issue:
