I've done some google searches to try and get the correct
TZ variables around the globe, especially North America.
ie: EST5EDT is the output for for East Coast USA.
CMT is what I would find for Central Mountain time... but I need
the entire line CMT@???
Any websites anyone knows about that can show this full TZ for the
globe?

I don't have a complete answer, but I can tell you that "CMT" looks wrong.
There is Central Standard Time (CST) and there is Mountain Standard Time
(MST). Each could have a daylight saving time suffix.

Doesn't OSR5 accept any TZ string of the forms
XXXnYYY

where XXX and YYY are any arbitrary string?
You want some XXX and YYY that are probably actually used in some real
locales?

Here's what I have for the U.S. Pacific TZ. I think all you have
to do is change the abbreviations and time offset appropriately.
PST8PDT,M3.2.0/2,M11.1.0/2
I suspect that it would be for Central:
CST6CDT,M3.2.0/2,M11.1.0/2
FWIW, I'm using this on 5.0.6a systems.

Any idea for:
GMT
This variable resides inside '/etc/TIMEZONE' on a Solaris-10 box.
St. Louis, MO. Be my luck the freakin' MO River is a TZ split and
I'll need to find out which side of the river they are on :-)

SOLARIS uses GMT?

All *nix system's system clock maintains GMT (unless perhaps
they're set up by an ignorant MS weenie :-). The TZ variable
provides the information to translate GMT/UTC to localtime.

All my stuff is on 5.0.5 so it may not carry over to later but FWIW I
no longer use the standard time zones as they are set up for daylight
time at the time the OS was released and, as with the current time,
subject to the whim of congress.
I use tz to set TIMEZONE with the location outside North America but
name the zones the same as it would be under a standard install.
All mine happen to be on the east coast and I don't have to worry
about the split zones or partial shifts.

Please note that TZ is a modifier that allows you to:
1) Set the timezone for your server so that times are recorded
in the timezone that your server "resides" in
2) Set the timezone for individual users such that you can
have users from many timezones using the same server
and all seeing time in their "local" timezone
